Aweber, And There’s More!!

I started using Aweber when I began marketing on the internet last year. I simply did as I was told and put in my email messages, I didn’t really know what I was doing. So I just ‘set it and forget it’! Which is fine and simple and just what I wanted really.

Eventually I found that I could send out messages whenever I wanted, in addition to my regular letters. I began to send out a weekly ‘broadcast’ telling my list about my weekly webinars. More recently I realised that Aweber did opt-in forms! That was very timely for me, because I had lots of difficulties with opt-on forms, particularly that mine were never that sexy! So I logged in and found lots of options, very customisable and very easy to put onto any of your pages! Neat.

So realising I was missing a trick of two with Aweber, I decided today to dig a bit deeper. And I found lots more stuff! For a start they have a newsletter you can opt-in to with lots of helpful hints and tips to get more from your autoresponder. They also give you the free gift of a downloadable pdf on ‘email deliverability’ which has lots of useful suggestions making sure your emails are actually arriving at their destination, including avoiding being classed as spam!

An excellent tip they gave was that you should always do a plain text email as well as an html one. I have always thought that it wasn’t worth doing a plain one as well. Aweber helped me see this differently. Doing a plain version shows that you are not a spammer, as spammers tend not to bother with a plain text version. And because alot of people now read their emails on their mobiles, they may not be able to read a message if their device does not support html! Therefore cutting down the number of people who may have otherwise read your email! Ok, I’m sold! Every little helps!!

Another trick that Aweber has up its sleeve, I will certainly be using myself. We have all heard of RSS feeds, but like many people I don’t know much about them. Definitely something I will be learning and writing about very soon!! Well apparently I am not alone, 97% of people do not know how to subscribe to RSS feeds! Wow! Well to help with this, Aweber have come up with doing a blog broadcast of your RSS feed to your email list!

Each time you write a new article and put it on your blog, they take the RSS feed and turn it (magically!) into n email! Its easy to set up. Go to your Aweber account, look under messages, choose a template and your’e good to go. You can set it up to send on certain days, or whenever you want. You can also review the broadcasts before they are sent if you want to. Incredible!

Aweber are also on Twitter, so you can follow them @Aweber. They are definitely worth following as they give hints and tips, tell you about webinars and help anyone who is having a problem. This is exactly why Twitter is so good for business!

Also, they do regular webinars to help with everything from basic set up to doing opt-in forms, great for those of us who are not technically minded and often need help.

Aweber, who knew there was so much to them? Dig a little deeper you guys!
