Genealogy Lead List – Are They Really MLM Leads?
One of the coolest things about network marketing is that you are in charge of your business. How quickly (or slowly) it grows is up to you. The big piece to building your business is getting your opportunity in front of prospects. To do this, you need to be generating leads. Leads can be people you know, people you just met, online traffic, and genealogy lists. The missing link is an effective marketing system to funnel your leads into, to convert them into business partners or customers.
Out of all the various ways to market your business, it seems that purchasing the lists of distributors belonging to various companies (genealogy leads) has been very popular, and continues to be popular. Let’s make sure we are on the same page before diving into this topic.
When a MLM company goes under, a last ditch effort to recoup some of the losses is to sell all of the personal information of their distributors. They usually take bids on the info, and the person with the highest bid gets the list. As soon as the list is purchased, the buyer turns right around and sells it again to their highest bidders. I have seen top level distributors even sell this type of information. As this is illegal, the rouge upline was served a swift dose of justice.
Look into it a little bit, and you will see that buying genealogy lists is not ethical, and just isnt good business. Think about it. You call a lead off the list, fully knowing they have no idea who you are, how you got their info, etc. Do you make up some story on how you got their info? Once they pick up the phone and figure things out, they are usually irate at the simple fact that someone sold their info. When you call these people, you are violating ftc regulations, and if you happen to email them…. that is one of the worse things you can do. You can be in violation of spam laws, and get fome pretty hefty fines for emailing people, so watch out.
So, if buying genealogy lists is such a bad thing, why do people do it?
This comes down to the almighty ‘list’. You have no greater asset than your list. If you have a small list of low quality contacts, you will quickly realize this and may be desperate to add people to your list any way you can. This is when things turn south, and shortcuts are taken. Instead of looking for quality leads who’s value will skyrocket your business, some people start looking for the ‘cure all’ – that one thing they think will explode their business.
At some point, most people realize that they will need to spend time building this business. Now comes the decision time:
1. Time to look in the mirror and face the facts. Do they decide to make the change, and become the person they need to be, to become successful?
2. Is it time to quit?
Ultimately, there are no good reasons to buy genealogy lists. Genealogy lists are unethical, and waste time. Marketing your business can be very simple to do; you just need to put some thought, and a lot of hard work into it, and you can build a huge organization. Whichever way you choose to go after MLM Leads, you will need a mentor by your side, coaching you through the trials they have already been through.
Ttwo things to focus on.
1. Look for a mentor that you can build a relationship with, to navigate through this business. You need to be able to trust this person with your business, so put the effort into finding the best mentor you can. (FYI – Your upline may not be the best mentor for you)
2. Improve whatever skills you think you & your mentor believe you need to, to improve your network marketing skills. This will instill the ability to generate MLM Leads on demand.
