Finding a legitimate home business online can be a very daunting task what with all the offerings on the Internet today. It can become confusing and frustrating trying to determine which ones are for real and which ones are or could be scams. Cutting through all the hype and finding that perfect home business can indeed be difficult. Here are some recommendations … first, find a business with a product or service that you really love or have an interest, whether its health and wellness, travel, home products, weight loss … find something you are passionate about. With any home business opportunity, it’s also crucial to take your time and do your due diligence. Research the company thoroughly, both online and offline. Contact other people currently in the business and e-mail them or speak with them about their business, if possible.

All that being said, I will now proceed with my review of one of the best and most profitable legitimate online home business opportunities, the Global Resorts Network.

If you love travel and staying at the finest luxury resort destinations throughout the world, Global Resorts (GRN) just may be your “cup of tea” as far as what type of business you are looking for. The Global Resorts product offering is a luxury travel membership which offers its members a discount of up to 90% off of retail booking prices at some 5000 luxury resorts worldwide. These resorts are top-notch, cream-of-the-crop offerings such as the Wyndham Mayan Palaces and other exclusive timeshare resort locations. Understand, you are not purchasing a timeshare, but a great alternative to a timeshare purchase with the GRN membership. There are actually two membership offerings, a 3 year limited travel Gold membership for $1,500 and a lifetime unlimited travel Platinum membership for $3,000. Either membership is a one-time purchase. There are no ongoing fees, charges or maintenance costs associated with the membership. Once you have it, you’re done. With your membership you then have access to the resort booking web site and an 800 number where you can book your resort vacations. Prices start as low as $298 for the week and usually never exceed $799 for the week. This is usually for double occupancy but some GRN offerings can include as many as six people for the same week.

Global Resorts Network started business in early 2007 and has one of the best compensation plans associated with any online business. Even though GRN is more of a direct sales and referral sales business model, their compensation plan is structured more like an MLM. As a GRN affiliate, you earn a $1,000 commission for every personal sale of a Platinum membership ($500 commission for the Gold membership), but then you also earn a matching $1,000 commission (or $500) for every sale made by anyone or everyone frontline to you. Override commissions also are paid from qualified levels in depth in your business organization. You can see that a very substantial, long term residual income is quite possible within a short period of time from this structure of pay plan with GRN.

The down side of GRN is that it is considered a “high ticket” business. The cost to get started as a GRN Affiliate along with the Platinum membership, which immediately qualifies that affiliate for the maximum commission pay out on every sale, is $3,095. If you’re looking to start a home business or an online business for a few hundred bucks, GRN is not the right one for you. GRN is a valid, high commission payout business and thus requires the fairly substantial upfront investment of $3,095 to get started.

To achieve long term success and a “walk away from your day job” income with GRN, you are going to need to build a team of people duplicating your efforts and sales. This means you will have to learn how to market your business online. That means you will have to be prepared to incur fairly considerable costs associated with learning and launching your marketing and advertising for Global Resorts. As a rule of thumb, you should plan on an additional $500 – $1,000 per month minimum for the first 2-3 months to launch your GRN business into profitability. Again, if you cannot afford this marketing and advertising budget, you need to look elsewhere for a “lower ticket” business without the high commissions paid out. Sorry, there is no such thing as “something for nothing” … no free lunch, folks.

I would also highly recommend that you find a good mentor in Global Resorts … someone who already has had success from marketing their business, has made some sales, someone who is actively building a team, someone who can “show you the ropes” so to speak and will be there for you … to coach you along your business building journey.

Building your GRN business online means that you are going to have to learn Internet Marketing and all the skills, techniques, and methodologies associated with it. This is an area where huge numbers of people claim to be experts or “gurus” and there is loads of “how to” marketing information available online. It is very easy to become overwhelmed by all of the information offered online today. A good rule here, stay close to your mentor and ask for “next step” advice. Take things one step and one day at a time. Don’t wait for perfection or until you have “it down.” Implement what you learn as soon as possible, even if it’s not very good. Remember, it’s much easier to correct course on a ship if it’s in motion. You will make mistakes, just face that fact, learn from them and move forward. This is the only way you will learn and progress in your business.

Remember, anything worthwhile takes work … but learn to work smart. Smart work is getting the maximum return for effort expended in your business. Have fun and enjoy the journey! That’s where the real fulfillment comes from, from the work, the learning, the experience and the journey to success!
